Pilates –
“A few well-designed movements, properly performed in a balanced sequence, are worth hours of doing sloppy calisthenics or forced contortion.”
Joe Pilates
Pilates
Joseph Pilates was born in Germany with polio. He developed a determination to explore and further physical and mental health. Pilates played many sports and became a professional boxer in England, where he found himself at the outbreak of WWI. He was interned and put in charge of rehabilitating injured P.O.W’s. When the amount of work became unmanageable he created the system of springs that inspired the equipment we use today.
Stories abound that he pulled people off the street and offered to help them get off their canes and walkers.
With this knowledge, clients will develop a greater awareness of their bodies, create a better balance for health and longevity through enhancing the bond between mind and body. Pilates methods use the deepest muscle layers to balance and control deformity and pain through a process of lengthening, and controlling muscle engagement. The method blends breath, balance to energize and stimulate all corporeal systems.
